The once disused concrete water tower in Werribee stands as a powerful and moving symbol of the town’s deep and storied history, with its origins stretching all the way back to 1914. Over the years, this iconic structure has silently observed the growth and change of the town, holding within its walls a wealth of memories and significance for the local community.

In recent times, however, this enduring landmark has been given a new lease on life. Through the efforts of the Wyndham Community Arts Project, the tower has been revitalised and transformed into a dynamic and captivating work of art. This rejuvenation was made possible through the generous financial support provided by the Andrews Labor Government, whose commitment to preserving and celebrating the region’s heritage has played a vital role in this transformation.

Situated along Tower Road, this 107-year-old structure is no longer merely a relic of the past but has been reimagined as a living canvas. The water tower now proudly showcases a series of striking artworks that serve as a tribute to its historical importance within the community. Each brushstroke and design element of the artwork speaks to the tower's role in the town’s development and its lasting impact on the area’s identity.

The themes explored in the artwork are deeply intertwined with the rich heritage of Werribee. The artists have intricately woven together various elements that reflect the significance of the tower, paying homage to its legacy while also creating a modern representation of the community’s spirit. This artistic endeavour not only breathes new life into the water tower but also strengthens its connection to the local population, allowing future generations to appreciate and honour the tower’s important place in Werribee’s history.
