Location: 50 Yorke Hwy, Warooka, South Australia
The Warooka Water Tank, located right in the heart of the town, underwent a significant and much-needed renovation in March 2024.
This long-awaited transformation was made possible thanks to the dedication and vision of Jason Swales from Studio Surf, who worked alongside a talented team of local artists and collaborators, including Harley Hall, Rachelle Plazeriano, Carolyn Ramsey, Steph Ball, Lianne Cook, and Steve Renfrey.
The newly revamped water tank now proudly displays a series of striking Indigenous designs created by Harley Hall. These designs intricately blend powerful Narungga cultural stories with vibrant local scenes, offering an immersive visual experience that reflects the rich heritage and unique history of the area.
The artwork not only brings the water tank to life but also fosters a deeper connection to the land and its people.
One of the standout features of the artwork is a captivating portrayal of an octopus, seemingly wrapped around a shipwreck. This visual element not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the tank but also adds an interactive dimension, inviting viewers to engage with the artwork in a more personal and imaginative way. The inclusion of such a dynamic and intriguing piece serves to delight and captivate all who come across it, making the Warooka Water Tank a true landmark of artistic expression and community pride.
