The Slade Point Water Tower in North Queensland was completed in June 2019 by renowned mural artist Scott Nagy who was assisted by Cara Sanders, aka Owlet.
The Mural is a celebration of the regions Humpback Whale Migration which occurs usually from June to August each year. It also depicts their magnificent Red Tailed Black Cockatoos which reside in the area and can also be seen on Lambert’s Beach Esplanade.
The water tower is best seen from Lambert’s Lookout in Slade Point. A short coastal walk trail will lead you to the tower for an amazing experience. It is an easy walk up and only 10 minutes each way from the lookout, or 5 minutes from the Gannet Street Beach Access, which is only 300 metres before the lookout.
There is plenty of side street parking all along the Esplanade too.
Lambert’s Beach is a beautiful white sandy beach with a BBQ area, tables and chairs and toilet block (disable access).
Parking Information
Important Note: The water tower road is very steep and narrow and is for local traffic only, definitely not suitable for caravans.
There is no caravan or motor-home parking at the Slade Point Water Tower, however there is parking available for large vehicles at the nearby Gannet Street beach car park, which is only a short 5 minute walk to the tower.
According to locals, the tower is best viewed from Lambert's Lookout and in the morning.
Please do not drive up the water tower road. It's steep, narrow and for local traffic only.
