The Red Cliffs water tower stands proudly in Barclay Square, adjacent to the famous ‘Big Lizzie,’ a colossal tractor with a rich tale of its own.
Local school children took to the task of painting the tower under the watchful eye of Clark Barrett, a renowned artist from Broken Hill.
The mural, encompassing the lower portion of the tower, serves as a visual narrative of Red Cliffs’ vibrant history.
Big Lizzie, a monumental figure in the region’s past, played a pivotal role in transporting wool from outback stations around Broken Hill.
Big Lizzie also provided shelter and carried its own fuel and provisions, embodying the resilience and resourcefulness of the era.
