The One Tree Hill Water Tank is located in the newly developed suburb of Taylor, situated in Canberra. This striking artwork was brought to life by the talented artist Geoff Filmer in July 2021.

In Geoff’s own words, his hope is that as Taylor continues to grow and evolve, this iconic piece of art will stand the test of time. He envisions it becoming a cherished landmark for the community, something uniquely their own that they can take pride in for years to come.

The mural is a beautiful blend of native birds and fauna, with a special focus on species that are endangered in the surrounding areas of Taylor. These animals were thoughtfully selected to be highlighted in the artwork, including the delicate sun moth and the legless lizards that are native to the region. Additionally, a majestic wedge-tailed eagle is featured prominently in the mural, symbolizing the many eagles that soar through the skies above Taylor.

The overall design of the mural was created with the view from a distance in mind, as the water tanks are positioned high on a hill overlooking the suburb. The artist wanted to ensure that the mural was not only visually striking up close but also readable and captivating from afar. To achieve this, the animals and birds were painted at a larger scale, making them stand out and creating a lasting impression for anyone who sees the mural from a distance.

Geoff hopes that this mural will become a defining symbol of the Taylor suburb, offering the residents a sense of pride and connection to their community. It is a striking visual representation of the area's unique natural heritage, right in the heart of their neighborhood.

For those wishing to visit, the site is easily accessible with street parking available directly across from the water tank. There is ample space for both cars and larger vehicles, making it convenient for everyone to stop by and appreciate the artwork.
