Street Art Murals Australia (SAMA), a well-known collective of talented street artists, was commissioned to create an extraordinary mural around the base of the Sydney Water tank located in Mount Riverview, nestled in the picturesque Blue Mountains of New South Wales. The mural, a vibrant and expansive piece of art, stretches across a remarkable 50 meters, showcasing the creative brilliance of the artists Krimsone and Scott Nagy.

Their collaborative work transformed the water tank into a stunning visual landmark, breathing life and color into an otherwise utilitarian structure.

The mural was completed in March 2016, and it took just three days for the artists to bring their vision to life. This rapid turnaround was made possible by the close collaboration between Sydney Water and the Blue Mountains City Council, who worked together to improve the urban landscape and enhance the local environment. The partnership aimed to not only maintain the functionality of the water tank but also to integrate it into the community's cultural fabric, contributing to the aesthetic appeal and vibrancy of Mount Riverview.

However, despite the success of the mural, the tank has unfortunately become a target for graffiti damage. The most recent act of vandalism occurred in 2024, marking the ongoing challenges faced in preserving public art and infrastructure.

While the mural continues to stand as a testament to the creative collaboration that took place, the graffiti damage highlights the ongoing need for maintenance and care in protecting such artistic expressions in public spaces.
