Middlemount Water Tank Art - Queensland

Titled 'We Made Our Own Fun' the Middlemount Water Tank is Located in Queensland on Nolan Drive not far from Blue Mountain Park, it was completed in December 2021

The mural is about celebrating the simple things in life, what it is like growing up in a small town and having to make your own fun. It is also a commemorative tribute to the Grasstree Mine and its subsequent shutdown.

Middlemount Queensland is a 30 year old town that was purposely built as a coal mining town. The Grasstree Mine was an underground mine located 25km southwest of Middlemount. On the 6th May 2014, a man was tragicality and fatally injured while calibrating gas detectors underground.  The man opened a hatch which released a flow of an irrespirable atmosphere and it asphyxiated him almost immediately.

Additional Information

Very easy access with street parking opposite the water tank suitable for cars only. I strongly recommend leaving large vehicles behind.
