The Kingscote Silos were painted in January 2022 by Cam Scale and Andrew Davis. Together, they brought to life an awe-inspiring mural that has garnered attention as the largest painted Kangaroo in the world. Standing tall at an impressive height of 22 meters, the Kangaroo serves as a captivating centrepiece.
On the opposite side of the silo, an equally grand Black Cockatoo adds to the mural’s magnificence. Both creatures are skilfully depicted within a breathtaking landscape, showcasing the natural beauty of Kangaroo Island.
The mural at the Kingscote Silos is just one part of the broader ‘Igniting Kingscote through Art’ project initiated by the Advance Kingscote Progress Association. This project aims to invigorate Kingscote by incorporating art into various aspects of the town. As you explore Kingscote, you’ll have the opportunity to discover and appreciate five other small artworks that have been carefully placed throughout the area.
