Falls Creek’s iconic ‘Brown Tank’ has long been an essential part of the resort’s infrastructure, playing a crucial role in supplying clean, fresh drinking water to the village throughout the entire year.
For decades, this large and functional water tank has quietly served the needs of residents and visitors alike. However, in recent years, it has taken on an entirely new identity—one that blends utility with artistic expression.
Thanks to the local Artist in Residence Program, this once purely functional structure has been transformed into a breathtaking canvas for street art, captivating all who pass by. Now, visitors can witness the tank in a whole new light, as it proudly showcases an extraordinary mural titled ‘Big Fella’, a visually striking artwork that pays homage to the culturally significant Bogong Moth.
Created by the internationally renowned artist TWOONE in April 2017, this masterpiece stands at an impressive height of over 12 meters, making it an unmissable landmark within the Falls Creek landscape.
The mural not only adds vibrancy to the resort but also carries deep cultural significance, celebrating the Bogong Moth’s historical importance to Indigenous communities in the region.
Whether visitors are skiing into the village via Shortcut or enjoying a scenic walk up Ory’s Trail from Café Milch, they are treated to an awe-inspiring view of this towering artwork. The combination of nature, adventure, and artistic expression creates a truly unique and memorable experience, making ‘Big Fella’ a must-see attraction for anyone exploring Falls Creek.
