The Coonamble Water Tower Art, a collaboration between artist John Murray and Indigenous artist Sooty Welsh, was completed in June 2017. This stunning mural covers the entire tower, ensuring its vibrant artwork is visible from every angle.
The mural vividly represents Coonamble’s rural identity, with iconic Australian Pink and Grey Galahs perched on fence posts, embodying the town's connection to its natural surroundings. Celestial elements, including the sun, moon, and the Southern Cross, are featured prominently, symbolising the vast, open skies of the outback.
At the base of the tower, Aboriginal Dreamtime artwork by Sooty Welsh adds cultural depth, weaving local heritage and storytelling into the mural's narrative, further enriching its significance.
