The Coonamble Water Tower Art is a collaboration between artist John Murray and Indigenous artist Sooty Welsh. Completed in June 2017, the mural envelops the entirety of the tower, ensuring that its vibrant artwork is visible from all angles.
The mural serves as a vivid representation of Coonamble’s rural identity, featuring iconic Australian Pink and Grey Galahs perched amidst fence posts. Additionally, celestial elements such as the sun, moon, and the Southern Cross adorn the artwork, symbolising the vastness of the outback sky.
Adding depth to the mural, Aboriginal Dreamtime artwork by Sooty Welsh graces the bottom of the tank, enriching the narrative with cultural significance and local heritage.
