Collingullie Water Tank Art - New South Wales

Located about 5 km from Wagga Wagga, there are two water tanks at this site, one on each side of the road. These tanks were painted in May 2019 by Wiradjuri artist Owen Lyons.

The murals were created with the aim of encouraging travelers to take a break at the nearby truck stops. While not shown in this image, one of the tanks features the inscription, "Better to be late than dead on time," offering a reminder to rest and drive safely.

Owen Lyons was first introduced to Aboriginal art as a young child by his father, who highlighted the importance of painting in Aboriginal culture. As he grew, Owen further honed his skills under the guidance of his older brother, Michael, before developing his own distinct artistic style.
