Cobar Water Tower Art - New South Wales

Located in the Glen Hope Free Bush Camp, just a short distance from Cobar, this water tank is home to a stunning mural created by

The Zookeeper in early 2024.

The mural honors the 150th anniversary of Glenhope’s founding in August 1874 by Peter and Ann Weltie. One side of the tank features a heartfelt image of Ann's hands gently cradling a watch made by Peter, a skilled watchmaker from Germany, symbolizing their connection to both their craft and each other.

On the opposite side, the mural portrays the hands of Mark Johnson, a shearer from one of the area's oldest families, carefully handling wool from a freshly shorn sheep. This personal touch from Mark adds a unique and meaningful element to the artwork, reflecting the region's agricultural heritage.
