Cloncurry Water Tank Art - Queensland

Artist:  The Zookeeper

Location: Cloncurry Tourist Information Centre, Mcilwraith St, Cloncurry, Queensland

The Cloncurry Water Tank Art is situated on the grounds of Mary Kathleen Sculpture Park.

The mural on the tank vividly depicts the devastating floods that struck Cloncurry in early 2019. During this time, relentless rainfall for over 10 days transformed the landscape into an inland sea, causing significant damage to local wildlife and the cattle industry.

The mural illustrates the submerged rail line with cows stranded on high ground and many trapped in the mud. Additionally, the park features a sculpture created by The Zookeeper, with assistance from local fabricators John and Jack Green.

This sculpture, which inspired the mural, portrays three cows ensnared in a river of mud and stones, capturing the essence of the disaster and its impact on the region.
