Mundubbera Pump Station Art - Queensland

Artist: Rain Hart

Location:  Strathdee Street, Mundubbera, Queensland

The Mundubbera Pump Station, a notable piece of public art, was painted by the talented artist Rain Hart in 1997, making it one of the oldest artworks featured on the Australian Silo Art Trail to date.

The station’s vibrant mural predates many others in the trail, with the oldest known pieces being located in George Town, Tasmania, and Wandoan, Queensland, both of which were painted in 1985.

The mural at the Mundubbera Pump Station beautifully depicts the confluence of three rivers: the Boyne, Auburn, and Burnett Rivers. The scene is enriched with a stunning array of native flora and fauna, skillfully woven into the design. These natural elements not only enhance the visual appeal of the artwork but also celebrate the unique environmental beauty of the region.

Mundubbera itself is strategically located midway between Brisbane and Rockhampton, right along the A3 Burnett Highway, which is also known as Australia’s Country Way. The water tank is situated in Strathdee Street, not far from the Dimitrios Bridge, which spans the Burnett River to the south of the town.

For visitors planning to stop by, parking is conveniently available for a wide range of vehicles, including caravans and motorhomes, making it an accessible destination for travelers of all kinds. Additionally, there are shops located nearby, within easy walking distance, offering a chance to explore the town while enjoying the art installation.
